The Davison Avenue 5th Grade Ambassadors are leading a civic engagement project to designate the Lakeview Public Library as an official historic landmark.
The library holds an important place in civil rights history. During the fight to desegregate Malverne schools, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. visited Lakeview, making the library an enduring symbol of justice, courage and community progress.
Today, the Lakeview Public Library continues that legacy by serving as a vibrant community hub—offering educational programs, welcoming spaces for families, resources for lifelong learning and a safe place for neighbors to connect.
