Davison Ambassadors Bridge Generations with Visit to Atria Senior Living

On May 8, the halls of Atria Senior Living in Lynbrook were filled with joy and gratitude as students from Davison Avenue led a special intergenerational visit to celebrate Mother’s Day. The collaborative event brought children and seniors together for a morning of connection and community spirit.
During the visit, the fifth grade Davison Ambassadors hand-delivered custom-made cards and flowers to the residents, while the Cooksey’s Café students served delicious coffee and treats. This initiative, designed to encourage empathy and civic engagement among the district’s scholars, highlights the importance of maintaining strong ties with local community members and honoring the wisdom of the older generation.
Watching the interaction between the students and the residents was a beautiful experience that resonated with everyone present. The empathy displayed by the scholars as they engaged with the seniors served as a powerful reminder of the impact of simple acts of kindness.
The district extends its sincere appreciation to the staff at Atria Senior Living for their partnership in hosting this meaningful exchange. Through programs like these, Malverne continues its commitment to developing well-rounded students who are civic-minded and focused on initiatives that improve the community.
