Davison Avenue Educator Selected for Prestigious Social Studies Honor

The district is proud to announce that Davison Avenue fifth grade teacher Colleen Moran has been selected as the recipient of the Margaret Simon Award for Excellence in Elementary Social Studies Education. Presented by the Long Island Council for the Social Studies, this prestigious award recognizes educators who demonstrate exceptional skill in bringing history, civics and geography to life for their students.
The Margaret Simon Award is reserved for elementary teachers who go above and beyond the standard curriculum. It honors those who successfully advocate for the importance of social studies and utilize creative, innovative teaching techniques to help students understand their roles as active and informed citizens.
Ms. Moran’s dedication to her fifth grade classroom ensures that social studies is not just a subject, but a vital and engaging experience for our students. Her commitment to excellence and her ability to inspire young learners make her a truly distinguished member of our professional team.
The honor will be officially recognized at the LICSS awards ceremony this June. Please join the entire district in congratulating Ms. Moran on this outstanding professional milestone.
